How to apply, and how long it takes

In the order it happens. Each stage waits on the one before it, so the date you start decides the date you finish. Ranges, not promises — the mission owns the clock.

  1. First

    Check the offer and the employer

    A genuine offer names the employer, the job, the salary and the benefits. If you are going through a promoter, check its licence on the Bureau of Emigration's list, and ask whether the employer's demand has been attested by Pakistan's Community Welfare Attaché in Doha.

  2. 3–8 weeks

    Attest your degree, if the job needs it

    Qatar has not joined the Apostille Convention, so the embassy step still applies: HEC (or IBCC for school certificates), then Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then the Qatar Embassy in Islamabad. Start early — it is usually the slowest part.

  3. 1–4 weeks

    The employer gets the visa approved

    The employer applies in Qatar for a work visa in your name. Approval includes security checks, and a real offer can still be rejected.

  4. 1–3 weeks

    The Qatar Visa Center

    Book the QVC appointment. At the centre you give your fingerprints, take the medical examination and sign your employment contract electronically. If the contract differs from what you were promised, do not sign it.

  5. Days to 2 weeks

    Protector, then travel

    Register for Protector — through your promoter, or directly with the Bureau of Emigration if the employer hired you without one. FIA checks it at the airport.

  6. 1–4 weeks

    Residence permit after arrival

    Your employer requests your residence permit and Qatar ID from the Ministry of Interior. Keep a copy of your signed contract; you will need it if there is ever a dispute.
