Pakistanis holding a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit can get a one-month e-Visa instead, whose fee shows when you apply. No official processing time is published, so allow 3–5 weeks for a sticker visa.

Pakistani passport holders need a visa for Turkey, and it comes in two forms. If you already hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, you can get a single-entry e-Visa online for a stay of up to one month. Everyone else applies for a sticker visa through a Turkish embassy or consulate in Pakistan.

For the e-Visa, everything rests on the supporting visa or permit: it has to be valid, and the border officer checks it when you land. The sticker visa is a full application, judged like any other on your money, your bookings and your reasons to come back.

How to apply, and how long it takes

In the order it happens. Each stage waits on the one before it, so the date you start decides the date you finish. Ranges, not promises — the mission owns the clock.

  1. First

    Check whether you qualify for the e-Visa

    You need a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen country, the US, the UK or Ireland. Turkey's Foreign Ministry says valid, so an expired visa does not count, however recently you used it.

  2. Minutes to a day

    Apply on the official site

    Apply at evisa.gov.tr and nowhere else; lookalike sites charge more, and some take the money without applying. The e-Visa covers tourism or business, not work or study. Print it and travel with the supporting visa or permit.

  3. 1–3 weeks

    Otherwise, apply for a sticker visa

    Book an appointment with the Turkish mission, or the visa application centre it uses, well before the summer and Eid holidays, when appointments slow down.

  4. Make the file agree

    Hotel booking, return ticket, insurance and leave dates should all match. Bank statements should show money that fits the length of the trip.

  5. 5–15 working days

    Collect and check the visa

    Check the number of entries and the permitted stay printed on the visa before you book anything that goes beyond them.

  6. At the Turkish border

    Carry your hotel booking, return ticket and, on the e-Visa, the supporting visa or permit. The border officer decides whether you enter.
