What you are applying for
Canada has no separate business visa. A Pakistani business traveller applies for the visitor visa — the temporary resident visa — and enters as a business visitor, which covers meetings, conferences, trade fairs, buying Canadian goods and taking orders, without a work permit.
What decides it is whether you stay out of the Canadian labour market. IRCC's test has three parts: you are coming for less than six months, you are not entering the labour market, and your main place of business and your income and profits are outside Canada. An invitation from a Canadian company matters, but the officer is also weighing your company in Pakistan and whether you will go back to it.
Most refusals come down to one of four
- 01Outside the labour market
- 02An invitation IRCC recognises
- 03A company that trades
- 04Ties that bring you back
